After leaving AHS, I joined a Southern Baptist Evangelistic Team headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma Baptist University on a full music scholarship. When I left the team, I entered the Navy music program and played lead trumpet in a number of Navy bands.
Finding myself married and the father of two children, I settled down in San Francisco to work in finance, completing my degree in same. Eventually I moved my family to the Pacific Northwest where I recently retired from US Bank as a branch manager.
1972: Me, Richard, Nina, and Kristina

After being with us for 27 years, our daughter died in a motorcycle accident in 1993, and my wife, Nina, passed away in 2008.

I currently live with my partner, Alexia. She and I started Atheist Church of Truth (you can find us on Facebook). When I left the Navy I put away my trumpets. But in 2002 I began playing again, and now play in two swing bands full-time, and am called on to sub in a number of other local swing and jazz bands. In addition to reading expository writing (mainly comparative religion, philosophy and archaeology), playing music, and my participation in club activities, I am writing an historical novel of medieval Japan (based on my wife's family history) and a book of autobiographical short stories.
