In many ways for me the project is also a homecoming. I retired from the Corps in 1985 and I was assigned on Okinawa on multiple occasions. The first time was in 1965 when as a young 2nd Lieutenant I was with Regimental Landing Team 7 on the way to Vietnam for my first combat tour.Like many other Vietnam vets I have some after effects, cancer, of Agent Orange that has resulted in surgery and radiation. I am fortunate that I was able to schedule this surgery when I was home.
All, With regret I will not be able to attend the 50th reunion. I have very fond memories of high school in Anchorage. It was a great school and I value the education, experience, and friendships. It would have been great to revisit Anchorage and meet with y'all.

Currently I am at home in Southlake, Texas recuperating before I return to Okinawa for another 5 weeks. I am still employed by Oracle as a Project Director. Oracle has a contract with the Marine Corps for the implementation of a new logistics system. My role is to lead a team in Okinawa, Japan to implement the new system with the III Marine Expeditionary Force.

There was a request for pictures and a short bio for the reunion. I have attached some pictures; Official Photograph when I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, lecturing in China, at Kakazu Ridge Memorial on Okinawa, and my family in Southlake. My bio is that I am happily married and reside in Southlake, Texas. I graduated from the University of Denver in 1964. I served in the Marine Corps from 1964 - 1985. Most of my tours were in the artillery. I was honored to command Battery C, 1st Battalion 13th Marine Regiment in Vietnam while attached to a Special Landing Force. I completed my MS at the University of Southern California. I have been with Oracle for 14+ years. The current project with the Marines is probably my last assignment. I regret that I spend so much time away from my family. However, we have been able to travel to Europe and Asia.

I am certain that y'all will have a great time at the reunion. Please accept my regrets for not being able to attend.

Sincerely, Michael
