Ramona (Bell) Sines
I have been an Anchorage resident since 1944 when Mom and 5 kids and Dad got the homestead. My parents cleared the 160 acres seven miles south of town where we cleared and planted to prove up on the property. I went through all of school , Quonset hut, North Star, Denali, Central Jr. High then the Anchorage High School. I advanced to Alaska Method University and had a dormitory room at the University for my four years. I was there on March 27, 1964 for the earthquake and decided to get married. I was married to Paul on June 6, 1964 and spent 15 yrs. raising my family while my husband worked. As a mother I was taking care of kids, girl scouts, boy scouts, baseball, soccer, picked berry’s, took hikes and lots of fun. I joined an Abused Women Center with friends and I got very frustrated and disappointed of taking care of the women. I decided I should learn how to make a salary.

I was invited by a neighbor to work for Schlumberger Well Services. I started working as a clerk and was advanced to General Manager of Data/Log Data/Geophysicists when I retired after 22 yrs. I had a lot of places to go for knowledge for my job, there were meetings in San Francisco, Houston, New Orleans & Washington D.C. and others including many trips to Paris, France.

Me and four other ladies try to get together each year for a few days. We went San Diego, San Francisco, Ajiji, Mexico; Napa Valley, Mendocino and many more. We all went to school together before we were married. We hope to get together this year but we are getting older. My husband and I traveled with our friends to Spain, Portugal, Italy, England & Ireland and Mexico. We really loved the area of Chichen Itsa & Talum in 2008.

I have my husband Paul and our 3 children, Karen, Guy and Grant. Karen is married and has 2 girls, Grant has 1 son. They have decided they love the San Diego area. Our granddaughters play violin, piano, girl scouts and sports. Our grandsons like baseball and boy scouts. Guy works for a Chiropractor.

We have a cabin at Big Lake and a nice pontoon boat to carry people to our dock. We watch the grebes and loons and get back home.

I hope we can be able to visit a lot of friends.
